Jennifer Rodriguez Wins World Sprint Speedskating Championship
Skater Ends Nine-Year American Drought

Kearns, Utah –– Jennifer Rodriguez, Olympic speedskater and UnFranchise® Owner, became the first American in nine years

to win the World Sprint Speedskating Championships after setting personal bests in the 500 meters and turning in the fastest 1,000-meter time in the women's field. Her performance came after taking a week off from competition to overcome fatigue.
“This is the most fun I’ve ever had at a competition,” Rodriguez said. I never have four out of four good races.”
The World Sprint Speedskating Championship is made up of four individual races and decided by a point system. Rodriguez finished fourth in both 500-meter races, giving her

a cushion going into the 1,000-meter competitions, her strong suit. In the two longer races, she placed second and then won the final race by nearly a third of a second to seal the victory.
