iTransact has always worked hard to keep fees and costs to Market America Distributors low. The recent drop in the monthly fees from $25 to only $9.95 is another example of their long-standing commitment to providing the best value for the huge variety of benefits of having an iTransact merchant account — including money directly deposited to your checking account, the ability to use your inventory to fulfill customer orders, taking credit cards to pay for products by phone or Internet, setting your own pricing on products and much more.
iTransact must ensure that all of their merchants (including Market America Distributors) are compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS). Having PCI DSS compliance indicates to associations like Visa and MasterCard that you, the Distributor and merchant, are appropriately handling, relaying and managing secure cardholder data. iTransact takes care of everything needed to make sure you are compliant. As such, iTransact must undergo an audit-certification process throughout the year to prove and re-prove their compliance (and, therefore, yours). This auditing and certification process gets more intensive and expensive each year. Thus far, iTransact has spent over $200,000 to prove compliance. To help defray these costs, iTransact must now assess a one-time, single per-merchant fee. For iTransact, non-Market America Distributor merchants, the fee is $15. However, for Market America Distributors, iTransact will only assess $5. This fee will appear on your merchant statement for the processing month of January 2008, which goes out in early February. PLEASE NOTE THAT DEPENDING ON THE PROCESSOR IT COULD APPEAR ON THE STATEMENT AS AN “ANNUAL FEE,” BUT IT IS ACTUALLY ONLY A ONE-TIME FEE. This fee will protect your interest and keep monthly costs down.
