| Earning IBV Through eBay® |
|
Market America has now partnered with auction giant eBay to offer you IBV on potentially every bid placed by your customers.
Each time an eBay user logs into eBay through your Web Portal, the first bid placed during that login session will generate .1 (one-tenth) IBV.* Each successive time the user logs into eBay through your Portal, his or her initial bid will also generate .1 IBV. By managing your customers effectively and reminding them to always access eBay via your Web Portal, you can ensure that you’ll possibly receive .1 IBV for every bid they place.
In addition, new eBay registrations generated through your Web Portal, where the user places at least one bid for an item, generate 10 IBV. So keep working with your customers and get them registered and bidding on eBay. It is the perfect way to introduce them to the Endless Shopping Experience™ and earn IBV in the process.
Note: Despite this new relationship with eBay, it is still against Market America's policies to sell Market America products on eBay.
* "First bid" and "initial bid" refer to the first bid or "Buy it now" bid placed during a given login session. Once the user has logged out, he or she may log back in and place another bid, and that will earn another .1 IBV because it counts as another initial bid.

E-Check Advisory
|
|
Due to an increase in returned e-checks, Market America is sending out this advisory.
If you are purchasing products to ship to another country, you must have a physical bank account in that country. For example, if you are a Canadian Distributor shipping U.S. products to your U.S. customers, you must have an account with a U.S. bank. You should not be using your Canadian bank (U.S. funds account); this is not the same as a U.S. bank account. Our system is set up to accept U.S. account information for U.S. banks only.
If you attempt to enter a Canadian U.S. funds account in the U.S. banking screen for products shipping to the U.S., the bank will reject the transaction and the Distributor will be responsible for any service charges.
Please do not alter your account number or transit/routing number to get the system to accept it. If you are not sure what information to enter in your account number or transit/routing number field, please contact your bank before submitting your information.
Again, any fees the bank assess Market America will be passed on to the Distributor. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

California AER Bill (SB 779) Defeated in Assembly
|
“In a dramatic finale to a legislative battle that has gone on for well over a year, legislation that would have established a burdensome adverse event reporting (AER) system for dietary supplements in the state of California was finally defeated -- by 4 votes -- in the State Assembly.”
American Herbal Products Association press release, August 30, 2004
Legislation Details and Market America’s Position
The defeated bill would have required all companies that manufacture or distribute dietary supplements in California to report adverse events to the state. A coalition of industry associations, manufacturers, retailers and consumers fought against the bill by e-mailing, calling and visiting California legislators.
Industry trade associations and Market America are in support of a federally mandated adverse event reporting (AER) system. The primary objections to the California legislation were that it would create a state-based system, that it did not properly define what adverse events were to be reported and that companies would have been billed by the state for the expense of reviewing the submitted reports.

President and CEO James H. Ridinger |
Thanks from JR Ridinger
In reference to the defeat of the AER bill in California, I wish to extend a thank you to all the forward-thinking Market America Distributors in the state who took the time to write to their representatives to defeat a bill that would have limited potential growth and adversely affected how Distributors conduct business. It is support and awareness like this that will keep the industry growing and ensure success for the business. I commend their actions and encourage all Distributors to stay aware of the industry and take the necessary actions to keep moving it forward.
Thank you,
JR Ridinger
and the Management Team

Market America Introduces Canada-Specific Web Portals
|
|
Your Web Portal can now be configured as either a U.S. or Canadian site depending on where you live and what type of e-commerce account you have. Prior to the release of the Canadian Portal, every Distributor’s Web Portal was the same in both the U.S. and Canada. The new Portal will make it easier for Canadian Distributors to do business online by promoting stores that ship to Canada, while also conducting transactions for Market America products in Canadian dollars.
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:
- If you live in Canada but maintain a U.S. e-commerce account, your Web Portal will be unchanged. U.S. products for U.S. customers and Canadian products are available through the existing Portal, and transactions are processed in U.S. dollars.
- If you live in Canada and have a Canadian e-commerce account or no e-commerce account at all, then your Web Portal will be transitioned to the Canadian Portal. This will display products in Canadian prices while also featuring Super Stores that specifically ship to Canada. E-commerce transactions will be made in Canadian dollars.
- If you are an existing Distributor with both a U.S. and a Canadian e-commerce account, you will have to make a choice of which Portal you want to have. A Web Portal can only support one type of e-commerce account.
- All new Canadian Distributors will default to the Canadian Web Portal automatically upon setting up their Portal subscriptions. Portals of Canadian Distributors without e-commerce and existing Distributors with Canadian e-commerce only will be automatically converted to the new Canadian Portal. No specific action is necessary on your part to make this change. The only Distributors who must make a decision are those with both U.S. and Canadian accounts.
If you are equipped with a Canadian Web Portal, your U.S. customers are still supported. There are two flags on the top-left corner of the Portal: U.S. and Canada. By clicking on the U.S. flag, the Portal will adjust the product and merchant selections to U.S. merchants. Note that all transactions for Mall Without Walls™ products will be made in Canadian dollars if the portal is equipped with e-commerce, but the converted U.S. dollars will appear on the customer’s credit card statement.
The Canadian Web Portal is the next step in creating a user-friendly buying experience for your customers, helping you to take your business to the next level online!
